Angela Hammond, RSW, MSW, is a highly skilled and compassionate psychotherapist who draws over 20 years of experience and training working with individuals, families and groups in the field of mental health, trauma and addiction.
Her practice centres on issues related to trauma, anxiety and depression including suicidal thoughts self-injurious behaviours, and emotional dysregulation. All the work is guided by anti-oppression and social justice. She draws heavily from trauma-informed practice while utilizing CBT, CPT, and PE.
Angela earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Development Studies and a Bachelor of Social Work from The University of Waterloo (2000/2003), as well as post-graduate training in Addictions from McMaster University (2005) and a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier (2007).
Angela has provided psychotherapy to children and adults in a variety of clinical settings including community agencies, school systems, government, primary healthcare and not-for-profit organizations. She has extensive experience and a passion for working with marginalized communities from diverse backgrounds.
Angela also teaches part-time at Renison University College, University of Waterloo in the BSW program as she feels mentoring the next generation of Social Workers is important.
Outside work, Angela enjoys spending time in nature, hanging out with her three children and getting unconditional love from her pet cats, bunnies and frogs.
