Toni Jacobs (Makwa Manidoo Kwe) is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and psychotherapist from northern Ontario. Toni earned an Honours Bachelor of Social Work (HBSW) degree from Lakehead University (2019). In 2021, she earned a health-based Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Waterloo.
Toni works full-time with the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program (OSP). She works for an Indigenous Primary Care Health Team where she offers culturally adapted therapy. She has received extensive training and supervision in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
In her approach to counselling, Toni uses “two-eyed seeing” (Etuaptmumk). This means she uses both Western approaches and Indigenous wisdom and practices. This integration offers a more balanced and holistic approach. It integrates psychology, spirituality, and culture. It also means that therapy is about collaboration and client engagement.
Toni recognizes the strength it takes to seek support. Her goal is to help you navigate your journey with compassion and understanding.
Outside of work, Toni enjoys spending time in nature, crafting, and spoiling her Australian Shepherds, Maggie and Lucy.
Toni specializes in CBT for ADHD, health anxiety, and caregiver burnout.
Social Work
A social worker who provides therapy is a trained mental health professional specializing in therapeutic interventions and counselling within the social work framework. With expertise in both clinical practice and social systems, they offer support and guidance to individuals, families, or groups facing a wide range of challenges.
